State of the…EVERYTHING!!

WOW! Tonight has been an abundance of amazing television…

1) Oprah – Did you watch it? She had Michael Pollan on as her main guest and I think he is BRILLIANT! He speaks so wisely and informatively about the things I have been saying for so long and people think I’m a lunatic because of it. But guess what…I DON’T CARE!!! I feel VERY strongly about the state of our health and the food choices we make. If you know me or read my freelance work then you know that I’m often times NOT quiet with regard to this issue. As dumb as a couple of her questions were (Would it be ok to eat a chicken that was very happy and living a great life?? :-? ) I was proud of her for having FOOD be the main topic of the show and NOT in a “diet” kind of way.

2) American Idol – we DVR’d it, but – HELLO – can you get anymore entertaining than American Idol?? Well, maybe the Biggest Loser, but my girls like to watch the ‘singing show’ as Regan calls it.

3) The State of the Union Address – President Obama speaks and I am reminded why I voted for him. He makes me proud and gives me hope and restores my faith in this country a little more every time he opens his mouth. I believe he is in for great things and I’m so proud to be along for the ride. :)

Now…on to the food!

Dinner was a mixture of leftovers, frozen stuff and the fact that my husband’s a chef! He took leftover mashed potatoes from dinner the other night and turned them into the yummiest potato pancakes EVER and topped them with a dill sour cream. I heated up veggie riblets and steamed some peas…

After dinner the girls begged me to let them try another flavor of the Coconut Bliss from Larry and Luna’s. I’m saving the flavor I think will end up being my favorite for last so we went with the other flavor we had left…Naked Coconut. Here’s the reviews from me and…the Peanut Gallery. ;-)

1) My Review – the naked coconut is my favorite of the flavors we have tried thus far. It was such a clean flavor yet bursting with coconut! I loved that there were pieces of coconut all throughout the ice cream. It was the perfect flavor to have after a somewhat spicy and flavorful dinner. It helped cleanse my palete and didn’t leave me feeling stuffed. LOVED THIS ONE!

2) Linsey’s Review – I didn’t like the coconut pieces, but the flavor was good. I liked the vanilla better.

3) Jason’s Review – this is what I’ve been waiting for from this ice cream. I have been comparing it to milk based ice cream and there for looking for it to be something that it’s not. In the coconut flavor I can finally appreciate this version of ice cream for what it is and truly enjoy it. The coconut flavor is extremely good and very pleasing to the taste buds. The pieces of coconut were an added plus.

There you have it and now we only have one more flavor to try. I’m really excited about this one!! You’ll just have to wait until the weekend though because there will be no more ice cream eating until then.

Goodnight everyone…
