And all is quiet…

Hey Guys! I’m totally bumming right now that it’s Sunday night and the weekend’s over, but I’m gonna be ok. :) I completely forgot, when I said in my earlier post that I was going to put up the before shots with our weight and measurements, that Jason has a meeting on Sunday nights that doesn’t get out until 9:30. So all of that will posted in the morning.

Tonight, for Jason’s “last hurrah” (as he put it) we went out to dinner. He has been wanting to try this place that opened awhile back called Granite City Food & Brewery so that’s where we went.

Originally he went with the intentions of getting a steak for his “last meal” :lol but once we got there he changed his mind and went with the fish and chips.

Here is my official review of Granite City Food & Brewery:

The inside is decorated in chic yet some what funky pictures and colors. Here’s two of my favorites outside the women’s bathroom…

The menu is fairly good sized, but only a couple vegetarian options are actually on it. :(

Being a Sunday evening I was shocked at the lack of business they had, but the service was still pretty lacking even though the restaurant was probably only half full. Regan was already hungry and her mood sure showed it.

She was totally heart broken that Linsey got to play with Daddy’s phone and she only had ALL the crayons.

After searching the menu for the healthiest/vegetarian option I could find I settled on the grilled portabella melt.  Here’s the official menu description:

A marinated portabella mushroom cap lightly grilled and topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Served on grilled herbed Focaccia and spring greens tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette, julienne roasted red peppers and finished with fresh basil. Accompanied with french fries and a pickle.

It was decent, but nothing that couldn’t have easily been made at home for a lot less money. I ended up only eating about 3/4 of it because the bread got very mushy towards the end.

The girls got happier once the food arrived, but when all was said and done here’s what Linsey and the rest of us thought about dinner…

The girls wanted dessert so we let Linsey choose. She went with the most chocolatey option she could find…of course! We shared the Brownie Sundae.

In truth it tasted like every other brownie and ice cream dish we’ve ever had, but that didn’t stop the girls from devouring it. Of course – Jason and I helped a little.

After we got home Jason headed off to his meeting and I got the girls in the bathtub. I got them all washed and squeaky clean then let them play while I made lunches for tomorrow. I also cooked Sunday oats (like every Sunday) and tried something different this time.

  • 4 c water
  • 1 banana sliced
  • 1 original Amazing Meal packet
  • 1 c steel cut oats
  • dash of cinnamon (I like to say ‘dash’)

I brought the water, banana, Amazing Meal and cinnamon to a boil and then added the oats. I let it cook and cook and cook and cook. For some reason it had to cook much longer tonight to absorb the water. I’m not quite sure why, but oh well. Once it was finished (about an hour later) I divided it up into the bowls like always and threw it in the fridge. Breakfast is ready for a few days.

Hopefully Jason won’t mind eating “sort of green” oatmeal…

Good night all. Hope your weekend was grand.

The oatmeal looks good already! It’s a shame that the restaurant service was lackluster even though they weren’t busy. I hate it when that happens.

I love that you split the dessert with the whole family! Such a great idea. I try and split dessert with friends when out to save myself the calories.
