We’re Home…

After a really nice, but too short weekend, we are finally home and actually getting ready to go to bed. I am a tired girl and so do NOT want to go back to work tomorrow. :( Oh well. Such is life…

Jason made us a really great breakfast this morning which I, of course, put my own changes too and everyone looked at me weird, but that’s ok. There was coffee – duh!

Then Jason’s Family Famous french toast which I must admit is pretty freaking incredible and I don’t really know why!! I topped mine with a sliced banana and almond butter that I brought from home instead of pancake syrup.

After showers and getting all of our things packed into the car we drove across town to my Grandparent’s house to spend the afternoon with them. We had a really nice and quiet visit. Regan played with all the toys that my Grandparent’s have kept over the years and then Jason and my Grandfather went out and picked up pizza for lunch.

I cannot tell you how excited I was when my Grandmother said she had made me her “oh so yummy” fudge sauce. I only eat it a couple of times a year because it is so rich, but it is TO DIE FOR good!!

And because she is such a great Grandmother she gave me permission to give all of you the recipe to her amazingly yummy fudge sauce…

Melt 2 sticks of butter and a 12 oz bag of chocolate chips in a heavy pan. Add 2 larger sized cans of evaporated milk and a 1 lb box of powdered sugar. Stir often and boil until mixture thickens. You can add 1 tsp of vanilla if desired. Serve over ice cream.

We had to say god bye to my Grandparents and meet my aunt so that we could pick up Linsey and get on the road. Springfield is about 4 hours away from St Louis and the girls get tired of riding in the car about halfway home. Ugh…they did pretty well though and both even took naps. YAY!!

Once we made it back home the dogs were so glad to see us and I was glad to be back. It’s always nice to go away, but coming home feels so good. :) I made the girls each a half of a peanut butter sandwich and some sliced apple for dinner since no one was super hungry and I made myself a green monster.

All I need is 4 ingredients, a blender and I’m good to go!!

Along with my green monster I toasted a slice of Ezekiel bread and smeared coconut butter and Crofter’s superfruit spread.

I now have a happy tummy, sleeping girls and Jason and I are going to sleep in OUR bed because we’ve missed it soooooo much. It is the greatest bed in the world and it sucks when we don’t get to sleep in it. YES – I am a big baby when it comes to my bed. Don’t judge

Glad you had a good weekend! Thanks for sharing Phyllis’ recipe. Sounds YUMMY!! And you are so right, every time we go to Memphis to see Leanne and her family, we say “There is no place like home,Auntie Em” as we pull off of James River Freeway! Good to get away, but so good to get back. Later!
