Happy Mother’s Day!

I know I disappeared on you guys yesterday, but we were busy from wake up till bed time!! Whew…I don’t think we stopped moving all day long. Before I get into the details of my Saturday and brag about the awesome breakfast spread my family made for Mother’s Day I have to share 2 of the funniest pictures we’ve taken in quite some time.

Friday night Jason and Linsey were at a birthday party and Regan and I took that opportunity to catch up on some reading. We started with I Love You Stinky Face, Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny, Brown Bear Brown Bear and this is how we ended…

Like mother like daughter!!

Then when Jason and Linsey got home Gabe was requiring major attention from Jason. He may be a 120lb dog, but he is the biggest attention whore I have ever met! So after petting and playing and hugging and more petting Jason decided that Gabe needed a new look…

It’s definitely a hat suitable for a rottweiler!! :)

Saturday
We woke up and hit the ground “walking in the crazy wind” at 8:30. Linsey ended up spending the night with her friend Olivia after the birthday party Friday night so we met them for our usual Saturday morning walk to Bread Co for breakfast. Jason, Linsey, Regan and I shared some yummy treats…

Jalapeno/cheddar bagel with egg, cheese (the ham went to Jason’s sandwich) and sun-dried tomato cream cheese.

Regan stole a good amount of this apple crunch muffin so I probably ate half.

Hazelnut coffee and…

great company – of course!! :)

When we left we noticed that Craft Alliance was having a pottery sale on the sidewalk so we HAD to stop! There were so many beautiful pieces for sale.

In the end we settled on three pieces and only spent $8.00!!!

On the walk home the girls conned us in to making a stop at the park. We all had a good time and I learned that you should NEVER turn the camera over to your husband. See if you can figure out why…

We even saw a mother duck with her ducklings!!

And then they swam away. :)

When we got home we headed straight to Target and Trader Joe’s. Our cupboards were like a barren waste land and needed to be replenished ASAP!

Later in the day my parents stopped by for a visit and gave me an early birthday present, but I won’t show it till my actual birthday tomorrow. Let’s just say that it’s sad that I’ll be 31 tomorrow and the gift they gave me is the first one I’ve ever owned.

I had a green monster for a late lunch. My breakfast stuck with me for a really long time for some reason.

We were invited to an “I quit my job” BBQ at our friend Mary’s house. She quit her old job as a pastry chef at a restaurant here in town to take Jason’s old job as the ice cream production manager and, of course, Jason and I quit our job’s last week too!! It was the perfect excuse for a celebration. Sadly – I forgot my camera!! We had a great time though and the kids all got to play together. Mary and her husband Mitch have a daughter, Alice, and a son, Rhys, and my sister came with my nephew, Diego. It was a very loud BBQ for sure!

Sunday
I woke up about 8:45 and realized that Jason wasn’t in bed, the bedroom door was closed, and voices were coming from the front of the house. I figured out quite quickly that my family was up to something. :) I went back to sleep for a little longer and at about 9:30 woke up again and REALLY had to pee, but I could hear their voices in the kitchen and phrases like “it’s not going to be perfect“, “Regan don’t wake her up yet” and “don’t forget the syrup” were what those voices were saying.

I figured they were almost finished and getting ready to come and “wake me up” so I laid there a little longer and just held it. A little while later (10:00) the girls came in, I pretended to still be asleep, and I heard “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOMMY!” I have to admit – there isn’t much better than waking up to the smiling faces of my baby girls.

Linsey walked me out to he hallway (I pottied super fast  ) and then I was led to the table, eyes closed and Linsey holding my hand. This is what I came upon…

Strawberry pancakes, soy sausage, scrambled eggs, Starbucks coffee, orange juice, fresh strawberries, syrup and my very own broccoli, mushroom and cheddar cheese  omelet.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to ALL the Mother’s out there!!!
