Well…WE SURVIVED!!! We managed to get open on time, serve some pretty decent food (the menu WILL be changing after Memorial Day) and we didn’t screw things up too badly.

I had a little trouble with the register a few times and getting the hang of writing things down right on the tickets, but I think all of that will work itself out with time.

Jason and Lindsay (who you’ll meet tomorrow) did a great job of getting the food out in time and we didn’t mess up any orders…YAY!!!

It was a little nerve wracking because the former owners were there and they know most of the customers by name, by order, by EVERYTHING so it still didn’t totally feel like OUR deli, but that will change too. It was very helpful for me to have the former owner there (the wife at least) because she walked me through the register, introduced me to customers and reassured me that it took her a little while to get the hang of things when she first started.

DUH! I know I’m not going to get it right the first day, but it really stinks going from a job where you know EVERYTHING to a job that you don’t AND you’re the boss. We’ll get there though! I have all the faith in the world that this will end up being a great thing.

I just have to start my morning’s with a good breakfast…

Green Monster and Coffee!!

In the blender this morning I threw in:

• 1 cup vanilla almond milk
• 1 frozen banana
• 1 scoop chocolate cherry peanut butter
• 2 palm fulls of raw oats
• a frozen banana
• 2 handfuls of fresh spinach

I didn’t take any pictures of my lunch because I ate in bites over the course of an hour, but it consisted of a chocolate peppermint stick LUNA bar and a bottle of this new (and really tasty) herbal water.  I had the lavender mint (YUM!), but you can find a few different flavors in my OpenSky Shop!

I’m calling it a night for now kids. Jason’s on his way home with Pei Wei and a few groceries. We need to go over how the day went and what we want to do differently tomorrow.

I plan on taking a bunch of pictures this week and then Friday I’ll give you the before/after post!!
