HEY!! I have to admit that I’ve missed you guys…sort of.
It was so nice to be able to hang out, veg, converse and spend real time with my family this weekend. I didn’t miss twitter (that much) and I didn’t miss facebook (at all), but I did miss blogging believe it or not.
So in case you’re wondering what I did all weekend since you weren’t getting play by plays on twitter or long posts with tons of pictures on the blog…I’ll show you!
Friday Night – Jason left to take his grandmother down to Springfield so she could catch her Saturday morning flight back to Atlanta. The girls and I already knew how we were going to spend the evening…
This is one of my all time favorite books from my childhood!
Linsey and I used to read it all the time when she was little and the story fits Regan perfectly…she IS a Wild Thing! Some day’s I wait to hear her yell, “Let the wild rumpus start!”
I must admit that I loved the movie. Linsey needed to be consoled in my lap at the end because seeing Carol cry so much when Max left made her (and me too) cry a little bit. Funny thing is…Regan could’ve cared less!
Saturday – I drug the girls out on the longest walk of their lives Saturday!
We walked to Bread Co for breakfast and then I surprised them with the long part of the walk because I had to go to the bank, but didn’t tell them until we were on our way. HEY – I didn’t want to hear the whining!
They actually did really good and we made it home right at noon after leaving the house at9:30.
Then the girls played while I cleaned house. I also got Linsey and I packed for our girl scout sleep over and when Jason got home she and I left. I’m pretty sure all the girls had a good time, swimming, playing bingo, eating pizza, watching Alice in Wonderland and sleeping in a hotel. They also got glitter tattoos from a professional make up artist!
Sunday - was (of course) Father’s Day so when Linsey and I got home the girls gave him their cards and then we hit the ground running! Jason wanted Red Robin for lunch so that’s where we went. I had the bonzai veggie burger, but could only eat half of it because I was just too full!
Next we hit up Costco’s (we now have a membership) so we could compare prices & quality between them and Sam’s. In the end we liked Costco’s best. I walked away with Chobani yogurt (I’m a virgin) and Maranatha almond butter along with some other things that we were low on and were able to get in bulk for really great prices!
On the drive home both girls fell asleep in the car which gave us the perfect opportunity to veg out on the couch from some trash tv! Jason read his new book Sh*t My Dad Says (if you don’t follow him on twitter you should!!) and I caught up on Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Once Regan woke up Jason knew exactly what he wanted for dinner…
Ted Drewes is a St Louis LANDMARK! If you live here and have never been drop what you’re doing RIGHT NOW and go. If you visit here when they’re open – GO! You’ll thank me later.
Me – “Who eats ice cream for dinner?”
Jason – “It’s NOT ice cream. It’s Ted Drewes!”
Me – “Good point…”
Ted Drewes is frozen custard and it is heaven on earth I kid you not. On some days you can’t find a place to park with in blocks of the place and the line is so long you might get hit by a car while you wait to order.
After glancing at the menu board (we don’t go that often because it’s in South City and we live in University City) we all knew what we wanted. So we made our way to the line (and peaked inside)…
Regan and I shared the “All Shook Up” which was vanilla custard with bananas and reeses peanut butter cups. OMG!!!
Linsey got a mint concrete…
Jason went with an old favorite – the banana split!
And in the end Regan had more fun playing in the parking lot (yes – we let our kids play in parking lots. Don’t you?!) and left me to eat the sweet treat all by myself…it was rough!
Today has turned out to be an interesting day. Jason was supposed to wake me up after he got out of the shower so I could go for my run early before the heat set in, but he forgot so I over slept.
Once the girls were up and we’d had breakfast I get a phone call from him saying that the AC in the deli was out (and must have been all weekend) so there was NO WAY we could open for business with the temps aiming the 100′s all this week.
Linsey and I have been out and about all day running the errands I was planning on doing tonight after work which made the situation a little more tolerable. I have a great lunch post coming later this evening, but right now I have massive house cleaning to do!
Hoping to get in either a really good run late tonight once the sun goes down or may have to switch rest days this week. Either way it’s no biggie because I have a plan! You can check it out here and see what I’m up to with this whole marathon training thing…
And by the way – Have you met Tom?? You should take a moment to hear what he’s been doing to change his life.
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time. ~ John Lubbock

ever so busy….now we know how people were filling up their days before Facebook and Twitter intruded
in our lives! Ironic- that is what I had for dinner too- check out my post for yesterday!
