Saturday Night is Date Night

This morning we woke up to dark skies, thunder, crazy wind and lots of rain. Great! I wanted to take the girls swimming this afternoon.

To make it up to them a really amazing breakfast was in order. Normally Sunday’s are reserved for pancakes. We call it Pancake Sunday! This morning needed something even better…

Cinnamon Swirl French Toast with Blueberry Compote

I had all the ingredients I needed to make Christie’s blueberry compote.

Bring to a boil and then let simmer on the stove while making the super amazing french toast you’re going to top with the compote. :)

We used the cinnamon swirl bread from Great Harvest.

The girls wanted soy sausage so I couldn’t disappoint. Regan even stole one of mine.

Not going to lie, but breakfast was AMAZING!!!!

Saturday Night is Date Night

My mom came over and watched the girls for us last night so that Jason and I could have a child free evening. We took full advantage! First was dinner at Ranoush. It’s our favorite kid free place to eat.

We got our usual…traditional mezza for two. It comes with hummus, falafel, cheese dumplings, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, grape leaf things (I don’t like those) and one fried meat “thing” that Jason always eats.

A huge pile of pitas always comes with it.

Look how green the falafel is!

Then we had desert. It’s called Knafeh – a mixture of baklava and cheesecake and it is sooooooooooo yummy!

Then we headed over to a really old movie theater, the Hi Pointe, that we’ve actually never been to in all the years that we’ve lived in St Louis.

It even has the old time ticket booth too!

Everything about it is vintage and really cool. And the best part – tickets are only $8 and snacks are only $2!

We saw Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio…

and had twizzlers.

All movie theater movies require twizzlers…it’s the law. ;)

The movie was incredible. It was hard to keep up at points because you’re dealing with dreams within dreams, but once I got it figured out it was PHENOMINAL!!! Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor and may have to be added to my list. But who is gonna get the ax?

The girls and I are enjoying Sandra Bullock Sunday on ABC Family. We just finished Miss Congeniality and are now watching Hope Floats (one of my favorites!) I’m hoping to get a long run later today while Regan’s napping if the weather allows.

Instead of a music video I’m sharing the trailer for Inception…it’s just that good!
