Ever feel “green with envy”…
Or like you’re fighting an uphill battle?
Well that’s how I have been feeling lately.
I’ve been feeling resentful of those who have the freedom to work out when they what, how they want, whenever they want. I’m determined to do this marathon in October, but have not been able to train properly due to my unbelievably crazy schedule.
Now that we’ve been moving I’ve had even less time to do anything. Jason’s back in school which means even less time to get things done. I’m very stressed and have been in a foul mood for a few days. Hopefully I can snap out of it once our house is back in order.
Hopefully…
I started out the morning with a bowl of cereal mix.
It was yummy and filling and easy – which is key right now. My kitchen is still in shambles and easy is what I need.
Linsey has been walking to school with friends since the move which gives me a few extra minutes in the morning. This particular morning those extra minutes were spent getting stuff for the deli at the store. I had to laugh when I passed this in the soup aisle…
Why would you need a vegetable soup made with beef stock AND a vegetarian vegetable soup?? Shouldn’t vegetable soup BE vegetarian??
Things were slow at the deli, but we made the most of any down time by cracking jokes, cleaning and generally being silly.
Love that!!
Lunch was a little of everything thrown between two slices of bread.
With a small cup of potato soup along side. Then I indulged my sweet tooth!
I could only finish about half of this chocolate on chocolate cupcake, but the half I did eat was SUPER good!!
Gotta pick up the monkey girl from school now…I’ve been taking advantage of Linsey being at dance to get this done. Not sure if I can get another post in this evening, but will try with all my might!!

I was seriously just thinking the same thing – wishing with all my soul I had more time for me. I quickly moved on- it’s not going to change for a long time!
Hey Maria.. too much to tweet back to you so I will post here.
U will figure it all out! 4th grade is a big jump. Even for us teachers it is stepping from N-3 into Elementary & many often 4get it should be recap of what was just learned during the day only for understanding purposes. Not nothing new and not anything overwhelming for the child. However, the rule of thumb is 10 min per grade actually (I said 20 min early because who can complete somethings in that little amount of time) as a teacher we are taught the 10 min R of T, but realistically it usually takes a child more than that. So Linsey should have no more than 40 min of homework (Language Arts, Math and Science or Social Studies) so that is broken down to what less than 15 min for each of those 3 subjects. Now realistically it takes more than 10 mins to read a chapter in a Science Book. If you feel like she is getting more, keep track and perhaps say something or observe if she is struggling with something and it takes longer than the 60 min tops then bring it to the teacher’s attention! I even went through this with my daughter as it would sometimes take 2 hours one day but only a half hour or so the next and after speaking with the teachers and they all agreed they were giving the same amount of homework every day and I knew the rule of thumb already. it was just Sarah not focusing completely or thinking she didn’t know/understand it but it was actually stuff taught to her that day. Good Luck and hopefully that long nights of homework will become shorter.
Time for things is so valuable as a mother! I hope you get a bit of a breather in soon.
Can I just tell you… the vegetarian soup is a pet peeve of mine?! Hahaha! There’s a cafe on the first floor of my office building that routinely serves vegetable soup… with beef broth. Boggles the mind!
Hope your uphill becomes a downhill very soon!
