A couple things about this evening didn’t go quite as planned, but since I’m a mom I have learned to roll with the punches. In my world things happen really fast and change even faster!
Linsey and I hit the streets err…sidewalks to pick up Regan with the intent of taking the long way (which we did) making the walk there about 1.5 miles. Once we got to the school and had Regan in the stroller I realized that I didn’t have my wallet with me.
That meant that a walk to the bank would prove pointless so we skipped it for tonight and took the long way back home. We still covered 3 miles, but 5 would have been better. Oh well…such is life.
On the way home we admired our sweet little city. See we live in St Louis, but the “town” we live in is a municipality of St Louis called University City. It is it’s own little urban oasis because we can walk to whatever we need…grocery store, movie theatre, restaurants, bank, school and for the longest time I was able to walk to work. We’re not far from downtown where all the sports action is, but still far enough away that game days don’t effect us too much.
U-City is also very interested in keeping it’s residents happy and healthy. It’s environmentally active and does a lot to keep the earth happy and healthy too. Totally my kind of city!
The sounds of the city are almost as good as the views. Besides the cars hustling by and the people out walking their dogs and the music you can hear the closer you get to the loop – we happen to live near an old Catholic church which chimes it’s bells every hour and they sound beautiful.
Dinner plans changed as well. I had the entire thing thought out, down to the plates, and then realized I had forgotten one key ingredient at the deli…shredded cheddar. How can I make a mexican taco casserole thing-y without shredded cheddar?? So that’s on for another night.
Tonight we had…
veggie chik’n patties with melted mozzarella cheese, steamed garlic broccoli and oven roasted dill potatoes. The girls seemed thrilled and my tummy was just as happy.
Now that Jason and my dear friend Michelle saved the day by tag teaming a picture project I have to turn in to Regan’s class tomorrow – I can finish her family board. I’ll show off my not-so-artsy-fartsy craft skills tomorrow.
Our things may change us, but we start and end with family. ~ Anthony Brandt
