a lovely weekend

It may sound cliche, but this weekend has been lovely.

There have been parties celebrating birthdays. There has been one great yoga workout and one brutally wonderful kettlebell workout. There have been dance classes where no one got kicked out. There have been errands that got done with zero hassle. There was a sleepover and a baby sitter and a night out with no kids. There was karaoke, alcohol, yummy food and good friends. There has been a Sunday spent mostly in pajamas and then there was a Jane Austen book club!

Over the past two months I have been reading Northanger Abbey and tonight I got to meet with a few lovely ladies and discuss it. Good times, right? RIGHT!

This evening I met Becca, Elizabeth, Jen, Betsy, Jen and Kara at the Bread Co on the loop for coffee, cookies (I totally forgot about Lent!) and Jane Austen.

We chatted about Catherine Morland, Henry Tilney, John Thorpe, Isabella Thorpe and the love triangles, the expectations of women, the differences in class and every kind of crazy show that’s on television right now!

Apparently I’m missing out big time with Downtown Abby, Sherlock, Harry Potter and the Hunger Games!!

The next book on our list is Mansfield Park.

I can’t wait to read this book too. I’m totally loving Jane Austen’s other books and it has been easier than I thought it would be to NOT compare every book to Pride and Prejudice. :)

Now – I’m off for the night to watch the Academy Awards…

Today I’m thankful for:

really great baby sitters

…yoga!

…Jane Austen and her lovely run on sentences

…karaoke on a Saturday night

…mai tais :)

Girl, you have no idea Downton Abbey is my obession right now. PBS online has most of the episodes for season 2 and season 1 is on Netflix, I highly recommend it.
