hungry girl on president’s day

I missed you guys this weekend!!

We got to take Linsey out to celebrate her birthday now that everyone in the house is FINALLY well.

We went out to dinner at Chevy’s and then to play glow in the dark Mini Golf.

We even made Linsey get on the “kiddie merry-go-round” afterwards so we could take pictures of her and Regan. She wouldn’t even look up because, as she put it, “11 years old is too old to be on a giant blue dog!”

If you’re not aware, Regan has become obsessed with The Cooking Channel. Not Food Network, but actually The Cooking Channel. She. Is. Obsessed. So – yesterday when the Hungry Girl came on she made me watch with her. :)

Lisa was making some yummy looking mac n cheese and then Regan said, “Mama, you have a book of her!” Sure enough – I did!

So when we did our grocery shopping I bought some ingredients to make a few of the recipes we found in my book.  I got really excited to see something called Grab n Go Breakfast Cookies.

Cookies?

For Breakfast?

Yes please!

This morning, after my 45 minute yoga workout with Bethenny, I couldn’t wait to try my cookies. But I savored my one cup of coffee with Regan while watching Little Bear.

The girls weren’t as interested in the cookies as I had thought they would be so I ate two of them myself. After I warmed them up in the microwave I smeared a little bit of peanut butter on top and dug in. HOLY MOLY!!!

When I finished them I was stuffed, but it was a good stuffed. The kind of stuffed that told me I wouldn’t be starving in an hour or so. You know – the good stuffed!

Today was a holiday for the girls and their favorite baby sitter was coming over. Kayla used to be Regan’s primary teacher when Regan was in the infant/toddler room and she loves her K-K. Since she works in a school district now she was off today too.

She came over about 9:00 and took the girls to the Magic House for the afternoon. I was pretty jealous of all the fun they would be having, but duty called so I went to work. Yay…

Even though my breakfast was so awesome I still had a snack about noon. I actually started eating it at 11:00, but didn’t get to finish it until noon. It helped hold me over until lunch at 2:00!

The deli was balls to the wall busy for a Monday and by the time we closed I was hot, sweaty and hungry!! I opted to make myself a veggie sandwich on wheat bread with gouda cheese and I had a bag of baked chips too. It wasn’t the best lunch, but it was quick, easy and tasty.

I didn’t have time to eat the orange… :(

Now that I’m home and Regan is napping and Linsey is reading I’m going to enjoy an hour or so of Friends reruns and then figure out what we’re having for dinner. What I do know is that the rest of the night will look a little something like this…

LOVE Hungry Girl’s Recipes! We have a few of her books in this house! In fact, last quarter in school, my daughter (9th grader) had to do a creative piece on the book Julie & Julia and she created a blog using HG as inspiration as Julie did with Julia’s book. So for an entire week she was making apps, lunches, dinners, desserts and drinks and created a blog with all the HG recipes.

I also love Monday nights and THE VOICE!!! A lot of my friends like SMASH too, but by the time The Voice is over, my night is over also!
