cherry picking

I have a love/hate relationship with Sundays. It’s gone on since childhood. Sundays are great because they are still (as Regan calls it) a “stay home day”, but by the afternoon I start getting the “here comes Monday” blues. I know that it’s sick and twisted, but I just can’t help myself!

So when I woke up this morning to freezing rain, less than sunny skies and facebook updates that said things about “watch out STL it’s nasty out there” I started almost instantly to go to the “Monday blues” place.

But this little guy helped to get me back on track…

I basically sucked down this cup of coffee without stopping to take a breath. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do and this girl needed the pick me up and she needed it quickly! Once it was empty I made another cup and got down to business.

The business on this morning was of the Pancake Sunday variety. The girls wanted chocolate chip pancakes and an idea sparked in my little head. I love chocolate. I love cherries. I love pancakes.

Let’s put them together!!
So that’s exactly what I did.

I kept the cherries out of everyone else’s pancakes because they don’t feel the love like I do, but my pancakes were delicious. And because I’m smart and (sometimes) think ahead — I have some left over for breakfast tomorrow!

Now that our tummies are full and the girls are (amazingly) playing together upstairs I’m going to take this time to get some house cleaning done. With a forecast like this — what else is there to do?

How do you spend these cold, rainy Sundays??
What is your favorite way to make pancakes??

I understand what you mean about Sundays. I love them, but also can’t help but be a little pessimistic, especially once the day is half over. However, Sunday is also the official day of BRUNCH (even though you can do it anyway), which is possibly one of the best things ever!

My go-to on cold, rainy, dreary sundays? Lots and lots of warm tea and books, while sitting somewhere cozy and warm, hopefully wrapped in a blanket and dressed in comfy clothes/pjs with a view of the nasty outdoors through my window. While this is not always possible (spending my SUnday babysitting, which is almost like working anyway), it’s still very joyful when I can :)
